Para iniciarmos o assunto precisamos entender o que \u00e9 o <strong>processamento paralelo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O <strong>processamento paralelo<\/strong> tem como objetivo quebrar tarefas grandes em pequenas tarefas, o <strong>SQLServer<\/strong> usa essa mesma <strong>l\u00f3gica<\/strong>, pega processos com cargas de trabalho excessiva e processa de forma paralela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O <strong>Query Optimizer<\/strong> leva em conta tr\u00eas configura\u00e7\u00f5es ao gerar um plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o que se beneficie de processamento paralelo. S\u00e3o elas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Limite de custo para o paralelismo<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Grau m\u00e1ximo de paralelismo<\/strong> (<strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>M\u00e1scara de Afinidade<\/strong> (<strong>Affinity Mask<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agora que j\u00e1 entendemos um pouco de processamento paralelo, precisamos entender o que \u00e9<strong> MAXDOP!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Grau m\u00e1ximo de paralelismo, ou (MAXDOP)<\/strong>, \u00e9 um par\u00e2metro que pode ser configurado a n\u00edvel de servidor, de banco ou de consulta, para determinar o n\u00famero m\u00e1ximo de processadores l\u00f3gicos, que podem ser utilizados para consultas candidatas a um plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o paralelo. Por padr\u00e3o o valor para o par\u00e2metro <strong>MAXDOP <\/strong>\u00e9<strong> 0<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cost Threshold for Parallelism <\/strong><strong>\u00e9 um par\u00e2metro que o <\/strong><strong>Query Optimizer<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>utiliza para criar planos de execu\u00e7\u00e3o para consultas candidatas a paralelismo. O <\/strong><strong>SQLServer<\/strong><strong> executa os planos de execu\u00e7\u00e3o paralelos, criados pelo <\/strong><strong>Query Optimizer<\/strong><strong>, somente quando o custo estimando para criar um plano <\/strong><strong>serial<\/strong><strong> for maior do que o valor do par\u00e2metro <\/strong><strong>Cost Threshold for Parallelism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>O Cost Threshold for Parallelism <\/strong><strong>pode ser definido com valores entre <\/strong><strong>0<\/strong><strong> e <\/strong><strong>32767<\/strong><strong>, por <\/strong><strong>default<\/strong><strong> esse valor vem setado como<\/strong><strong> 5. <\/strong><strong>Ele pode ser configurado e visualizado a n\u00edvel de inst\u00e2ncia e atrav\u00e9s da<\/strong><strong> sp_configure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Antes de configurarmos o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>, por boas pr\u00e1ticas para acharmos o valor ideal para o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong> temos que calcular, utilizando a metade da quantidade de processadores por <strong>NUMA<\/strong> <strong>NODE<\/strong>, assim, encontraremos o valor ideal para o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interessante as informa\u00e7\u00f5es acima, e como poder\u00edamos configurar o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>, e o <strong>Cost Threshold for Parellelism<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exemplo 1<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A n\u00edvel de inst\u00e2ncia e temos as duas formas abaixo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/A-nivel-de-instancia-temos-duas-formas-abaixo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13981\" width=\"389\" height=\"324\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exemplo 2<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A n\u00edvel de consulta:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/A-nivel-de-consulta.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13980\" width=\"569\" height=\"76\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/A-nivel-de-consulta.png 569w, http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/A-nivel-de-consulta-480x65.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 569px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exemplo 3<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A n\u00edvel de banco de dados, podemos configurar das duas formas abaixo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/A-nivel-de-banco-de-dados.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13979\" width=\"378\" height=\"291\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quando analisamos um plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 f\u00e1cil identificar consultas que se beneficiam do uso de paralelismo, uma das formas de identificar e atrav\u00e9s dos <strong>Exchanges Operators<\/strong>(Operadores de troca). O que esse <strong>Wait Type<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CXPACKET<\/strong> \u2013 O tempo de espera elevado nesse <strong>Wait<\/strong> indica que est\u00e3o ocorrendo ou ocorreram opera\u00e7\u00f5es utilizando plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o paralelo. Se a espera for excessiva, e n\u00e3o puder ser reduzida atrav\u00e9s do ajuste da consulta, com a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00edndices por exemplo, considere ajustar o <strong>Cost Threshold for Parallelism <\/strong>e o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"leia-mais-linkedin\"><strong>Demo 1<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abaixo vamos rodar uma consultas utilizando <strong>paralelismo<\/strong> com as configura\u00e7\u00f5es padr\u00f5es do <strong>SQLServer<\/strong>. N\u00e3o sei se lembram anteriormente, falamos que por padr\u00e3o o <strong>Cost Threshold for Parallelism<\/strong> vem com o valor = <strong>5<\/strong>. Em alguns casos, um plano paralelo pode ser escolhido mesmo que o plano de custo da consulta seja menor que o&nbsp;<strong>Cost Threshold<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>atual para o<\/strong>&nbsp;valor de paralelismo.&nbsp;Isso pode acontecer porque a decis\u00e3o de usar um plano paralelo ou serial \u00e9 baseada em uma estimativa de custo fornecida anteriormente no processo de otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Na execu\u00e7\u00e3o da <strong>demo 1<\/strong>, nosso <strong>Degree of Parallelism<\/strong> est\u00e1 como <strong>8<\/strong>, isso significa que como deixamos o valor que vem por <strong>default<\/strong> para o <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/darkorchid-wallaby-287256.hostingersite.com\/sql-server-backups-introducao-a-cadeia-de-backups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SQL Server<\/a><\/strong>, e ele est\u00e1 utilizando todos os meus processadores para executar a consulta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Degree-of-parallelism.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13982\" width=\"915\" height=\"422\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nessa primeira demo, al\u00e9m de nortamos o no <strong>CPUTime<\/strong> e <strong>Elapsed Time<\/strong>, elevados ocupando todos os <strong>Threads<\/strong>, notamos no <strong>WaitStats<\/strong> o <strong>Wait CXPACKET<\/strong> com maior tempo, rodando uma consulta que pega os <strong>Waits<\/strong>, tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 poss\u00edvel ver esse <strong>Wait<\/strong> com tempo elevado quando existem consultas candidatas a um plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o paralelo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SQL Server Execution Times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; CPU time = 12951 ms, elapsed time = 37489 ms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demo 2<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iremos configurar o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>, e o <strong>Cost Threshold<\/strong>, lembrando que para o meu caso tenho uma <strong>NUMA NODE<\/strong> com <strong>8 Processadores<\/strong>, por isso meu <strong>maxdop = 4<\/strong>. Podemos notar a diferen\u00e7a em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a <strong>demo 1<\/strong>, que eu deixei os valores default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted has-background\" style=\"background-color:#eeeeee\">--Definir MAXDOP e Cost Threshold\nEXEC sys.sp_configure\n@configname = 'show advanced options',\n@configvalue = 1;\nRECONFIGURE;\n\nEXEC sys.sp_configure\n@configname = 'cost threshold for parallelism',\n@configvalue = 10;\nRECONFIGURE;\n\nEXEC sys.sp_configure\n@configname = 'max degree of parallelism',\n@configvalue = 4;\nRECONFIGURE;\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MAXDPOP-setup.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13988\" width=\"900\" height=\"417\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Utilizando agora a configura\u00e7\u00e3o recomendada por <strong>NUMA NODE<\/strong>, temos um <strong>CPUTime<\/strong> menor do que na <strong>Demo 1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SQL Server Execution Times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; CPU time = 10657 ms, elapsed time = 37545 ms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demo 3<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iremos configurar o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>, e o <strong>Cost Threshold<\/strong>, utilizando um exemplo que j\u00e1 vi sendo utilizado em alguns lugares. alterando o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong> to <strong>2<\/strong> e testando. Podemos notar que utilizando <strong>2<\/strong> <strong>processadores<\/strong> o meu <strong>Estimated Subtree Cost <\/strong>aumentou<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MAXDOP-demo-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13986\" width=\"939\" height=\"434\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nessa demo o nosso <strong>CPUTime<\/strong> reduziu, por\u00e9m temos um <strong>Elapsed Time<\/strong> maior, do que em demos anteriores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SQL Server Execution Times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; CPU time = 9000 ms, elapsed time = 38521 ms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Demo 4<\/strong> :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O que acontece se colocarmos o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>, com o valor<strong> 1<\/strong>, ser\u00e1 que utilizar\u00e1 somente<strong> 1 <\/strong>processador e ir\u00e1 melhorar em quest\u00f5es de performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/dataex.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/MAXDOP-demo-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13987\" width=\"941\" height=\"434\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Como assim, sumiu o paralelismo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Na verdade ele foi inibido, por\u00e9m esse cen\u00e1rio n\u00e3o pode ocorrer, temos que ter esses par\u00e2metros configurados para que as consultas candidatas a um plano de execu\u00e7\u00e3o paralelo, possam se beneficiar do paralelismo, trazendo a melhor performance. Quando colocamos nosso <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong> com o valor<strong> 1<\/strong>, o <strong>SQLServer<\/strong> suprime o <strong>Cost Threshold<\/strong>. Por\u00e9m isso tem consequencias como podemos notar nos tempos abaixo <strong>CPUTime<\/strong> que \u00e9 quantidade de ciclos de <strong>CPU<\/strong> gasto pelos <strong>Threads<\/strong> para executar as etapas da instru\u00e7\u00e3o, em rela\u00e7\u00e3o as outras demos, nosso <strong>Elapsed Time<\/strong>, que \u00e9 o tempo total para executar a instru\u00e7\u00e3o aumentou, e nosso <strong>Estimated Subtree Cost<\/strong> tamb\u00e9m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SQL Server Execution Times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp; CPU time = <strong>6672<\/strong> ms, elapsed time = <strong>42960<\/strong> ms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclus\u00f5es:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u00f3gico, nos exemplos acima estou rodando somente uma consulta, ent\u00e3o ela n\u00e3o vai se beneficar o m\u00e1ximo de paralelismo, para que isso ocorra eu teria que estar rodando mais consultas em paralelo. \u00c9 recomendado utilizar a metade de <strong>processadores<\/strong> por <strong>NUMA NODE<\/strong> como um bom valor para o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong>. Por\u00e9m o mais ideal seria testar para chegarmos em um <strong>Degree of Parallelim<\/strong> que ir\u00e1 favorecer todas as consultas, ou a maioria das consultas que utilizam paralelismo, para isso \u00e9 preciso alguns testes, e horas de pesquisa, s\u00f3 ent\u00e3o conseguiremos chegar no melhor para cada ambiente de banco de dados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Espero que esse artigo possa ajudar, e salientar sobre a importancia de se configurar o <strong>Cost Threshold <\/strong>e o <strong>MAXDOP<\/strong> corretamente.
